Customized Collaborations

This is an assortment of projects that explore the idea of custom painting semi-collectable items "in collaboration" with the original product design, a found object in nature or a space the case of a mural. When there is a commissioner I see it as a collaboration with them as well. Hopefully, the results elevate the item or space in value, visual interest and sentimentality without hindering any practical function. There is usually a thematic approach inspired by my reflection on the item and potentially a commissioner's preferences. Whereas my paintings and drawings are relatively serious, these pieces might be more whimsical or experimental in comparison. These pieces are engaging for me to reimagine because the design and particular base material create a few extra elements to consider. There may be refurbishing involved, several small paintings and pattern work on multiple surfaces, so for this reason these can be even more difficult to complete.
